Courtney McDermed has been practicing immigration law in the Bay Area since 2003, litigating cases in the areas of asylum, cancellation of removal, NACARA, naturalization, 212(c), U visas, waivers, and writing appeals.
Ms. McDermed worked as an associate attorney at Van Der Hout, Brigagliano & Nightingale, LLP for over seven years before opening Johnson & McDermed, and more recently, the Law Office of Courtney McDermed. Ms. McDermed has represented hundreds of people before the courts and the Department of Homeland Security.

Eva was born and raised in East Los Angeles, CA. She moved to Minnesota to attend Gustavus Adolphus College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. Eva then went on to earn her J.D. from the University of St. Thomas School of Law in Minneapolis, MN. Eva moved to the Bay Area in 2014 and has been working in immigration law ever since. Her passion to advocate for immigrants and social justice issues stems from her family’s own history as immigrants.
